Carey Goryl, MSW, CAE, Chief Executive Officer, AAPPR Carey has a possion for harnessing the power of people and ideas to do great things. An accomplished leader across many association management areas, Carey has a master's degree in social work and brings exceptional listening skills to her role. She values curiosity in colleagues and will often seek non-traditional partners for collaboration to assure a worthy project moves forward.
Carey has been CEO of AAPPR for four years. She previously led the professional organization for forensic nurses. She is certified in ROWE, is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives and serves on the board of directors of the Michigan Society of Association Executives. She also is an active participant and sought - after speaker on peer to peer coaching.
Felix Castro, HR Consultant, Medical Group, Physician & APP Recruitment and Onboarding, Atrium Health
Felix Castro is the lead Data Analyst and Project Manager at Atrium Health. He supports the Human Resource Physician Recruiting and Onboarding team, providing quantitative and qualitative analysis on key recruiting metrics. Spearheading all modeling for monthly, quarterly and annual tracking as well as onboarding metrics.
Prior to his role, Felix worked over 10 years in Finance as a Data Analyst, responsible for supporting the finance team with operating metrics, building dashboards for the department and improving cost-savings across operating expenses.
Felix holds a BS in Mass Communications with concentrations on Finance from St. Bonaventure University.
Scott Hackworth, CPA, Senior Vice President, Industry Insights Scott has led the Benchmarking Study and other survey projects for AAPPR for more than a decade. He studies the performance and nuances of various industries, with his findings featured in publications such as National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The Economist. Scott holds a Master of Science in Predictive Analytics degree from Northwestern University, an M.B.A. from Capital University, and a B.A. degree in Corporate Finance from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Melissa Hale, CMSR, CPRP, Lead Senior Recruiter, Baystate Health Melissa is the Manager of Physician & Advanced Practitioner Recruitment at Baystate Health / University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate in western Massachusetts. She is responsible for developing strategic recruitment plans for physicians and advanced practitioners for several service lines as well as leading project initiatives and providing training within the Provider Recruitment team. She has been a member of AAPPR since 2007 and holds CMSR and CPR certifications. She currently serves as President of the Northeast Physician Recruiter Association.
Kate Kaegi, Senior Leader, Physician, Provider and Leadership Talent, SSM Health Kate Kaegi is the Regional Executive Leader of Physician, Advanced Practice, and Executive Talent Acquisition for SSM Health – Wisconsin, a nationally recognized health care system based in the Midwest.
Having served on AAPPR Committees in her past, Kate has a long standing and successful career in physician and provider recruitment. Her thought leadership and counsel is routinely sought by industry partners who value her experience working in a large integrated delivery network. Kate directly works with her health system’s leaders to ensure alignment of strategic clinical and executive hiring plans for her region and provides transparency of her team’s performance efforts to both Medical Group and Hospital leadership. In her spare time, Kate enjoys spending time with her family and taking walks with her 1-year old dog, Lily.
Emerson Moses, MBA, CPRP, Regional Director, Clinical Talent Acquisition, OptumCare Emerson leads the northeast provider recruitment team for OptumCare, covering New England and North Central US geography. With seventeen years of health care recruitment and management experience, Emerson has led multiple teams and initiatives across a diverse group of health systems and practice organizations in, including Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts Medical Center and Baystate Health. She also served as the Director of Clinician Recruitment for the primary care practice group, One Medical, which had the practices in over 30 locations nationally such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Washington DC and Boston.
In her roles, Emerson's experience has spanned many areas, including recruitment program and team development, retention and onboarding initiatives, employment brand discovers, targeted sourcing and outreach strategies, and metrics driven performance management. Emerson has been a member of AAPPR since 2007 and is the current President-Elect to the board.
Jessica Mullany, Associate Director, Provider Recruitment, Penn State Health Jessica Mullany is the Associate Director Provider Recruitment at Penn State Health. She built the Provider Recruitment team from its inception and has led the team through unprecedented growth. Jessica is a member of AAPPR and has obtained her CRP certification. Jessica holds a bachelor's degree in health administration from Penn State University.
